This April we're offering a week of Camp Pixel with some BRAND NEW options.
We'll be open from 9am to 3pm over April Break offering campers choice of THREE amazing core workshops in digital technology. Camp Pixel is best for kids ages 8 - 12 but accomodates kids as young as 6. Extended care is available until 5:30pm as well!
THE CORE WORKSHOPS (PLEASE CHOOSE ONE)
Campers will spend the majority of each day within their core workshop. The options for this camp are:
- Future CIties 3D Printing - The future is in these campers' hands. Literally. In this core they will be working together to plan, design, and prototype the buildings of tomorrow. At the end of the week, they will 3D print their buildings which will be assembled into a big diarama of the 3D City of Tomorrow! Topics covered may include 3D Printing, Solidworks or similar CAD software, and basics of architecture and city planning. This core is good for all ages.
- Basic RPG (Role Playing Game) Video Game Design - In this never before offered core we'll be creating a basic top-down role playing game in the style of the original Zelda. Campers will create a unique world, tile set, and character based on a story they write!
- Please note, that stop-motion animation is no longer available for Spring Break Camp
Choose your core major by selecting the corresponding ticket on this page. There is limited space in each core!
ELECTIVES (PLEASE CHOOSE ONE)
In addition to the core, campers will spend a smaller part of their day in their choice of week-long elective. The options for this camp are:
- Laser Cutting and CAD - Campers in this elective will learn to create vector graphic designs that can be engraved or cut into various materials using our laser cutter! The laser cutter will cut their designs quickly and is much safer than handling powertools or evern a pair of scissors! It is completely enclosed and computer operated. Projects will change week to week and topics covered may include: Vector graphic design, product design, puzzle making, the science of lasers, and more! Please note there is a one-time $20 materials fee for this elective for the cuttable materials such as felt, acrylic, and bamboo plywood (which your camper will get to keep at the end of the week!)
- Digital Music - This elective will let campers jam out and form a band! They will learn how to play the drums, guitar, and keyboard, as well as how to use computers and technology to record and edit their tracks!
- Arduino Electronics - Campers in this elective will get to play with ALL of our electronics. Topics covered may include: basic and advanced circuitry, Arduino programming, and soldering. Please note there is a one-time $50 materials fee for this elective for the electronics components (which your camper will get to keep at the end of the week!) These materials can be re-used if your camper repeats this elective in the future.
Choose your elective by selecting the corresponding ticket on this page. There is limited space in each elective!
